2 breville products ceased working within 2 years of buying. The microwave oven ikon200 and rice cooker multifunction BRC 600.
Both of these have the same problem, heating/ thermostat mechanism is faulty. Lights/ buttons everything works.Chinese products are faulty but they are expected to last short duration and price of these products are cheaper.
Breville products that I have tried have become more worse compared to the price we pay for their name and products. Both were bought from myer - that's not myer's fault- they are there to make money nothing else. Breville, Thank you but no thank you.
I have learnt my lesson and please don't expect me or my friends to buy your products again.Expensive poor product. I bought this two years ago from Myers. Now it wont turn off. It turns off only if we keep the door open.
It had to take it to their service centre two times during the last two years due to the same fault. It is not an easy job to take this one in the car. Also I had to take leaves to take it to the service centre as they are only open on weekdays. This morning the same fault came back! I am so frustrated. My point is, owning this microwave caused me a lot of headache.
Much cheaper ones at my friends places don't give them any trouble. So please don't buy this. After this experience, I will not buy any Breville products.Good looksFrequent faults. 1 month after warranty expiry the interior light stopped working.
I thought it would be easy to replace the lamp however it's not located inside the cavity anywhere that can be seen. The cust service centre sent one out to me, just under $5 for the lamp & a further $10 for delivery!
Unfortunately they didn't tell me that it cannot be installed yourself. I called the service line again and I was told it needed to be taken to a service centre. They didn't offer to provide the location & I had to prise the information out of them bit by bit 'where are they' 'what are they called' 'what's the address' but no phone number or hours of operation could be given. I located the electricians they directed me to in yellow pages, however they only open weekdays, so I will need to call in sick to get a day off work to change a lightbulb!

The microwave itself has a nice appearance & it works, but the pre-programmed cook and defrost times are useless. Additionally there is no manual defrost option, you have to select the Pre-programmed one & choose the food weight but this has never been correct yet, you need to select a further 100g weight and so on until the desired defrost is achieved. The lowest manual power option is too high for defrost.
I would not buy again.Nice appearancePoor after service. Lightbulb can only be changed by a technician.

Very disappointing. The microwave died within less than 2 years of purchase.For me to buy a Breville Microwave again, they will have to extend the warranty to 2 or 3 years.I originally purchased this microwave due to the design and the handle on the door which is easy to operate.There are a number of complex programs but in my experience you never or seldom use them. Instead you only set the timer and use the microwave at full power.Door is easy to openDied before its 2 year anniversary.
